Raq-L – Everyday Junglist Podcast – Episode 770

Welcome to episode 770 of the Everyday Junglist Podcast!

Episode 770 brings us a mix from talented UK DJ and member of the Hardcore Babes, Raq-L!

Raq-L’s mix is an eclectic banger! Raq-L fluidly melds Jungle, DNB, Hardcore, and Footwork and smashes it with this one! So many great tunes in this one from Raq-L!

Let’s meet our DJ for episode 770, Raq-L:

Introducing Raq-L — a London-based, Portuguese-born DJ whose sound refuses to sit in one box.
Starting her journey with jungle and hardcore, Raq-L’s approach to DJing has been heavy influenced by the UK’s underground scene, while her Portuguese background and love for sounds from across the globe continue to shape the way she connects with and selects music. Over the years, her sound has evolved into a constantly shifting palette of heavy bass, percussive rhythms and leftfield club sounds.

Her sets move instinctively between acid-soaked electro, UK bass, breaks, footwork, ghetto tech, jersey club, percussive sounds, Baile funk and other Latin inspired club music. What sets Raq-L apart is her ability to connect different sounds and adapt to the energy of a room without losing her identity – guided by a distinctly niche ear developed through years of digging for music across scenes and corners of the internet.

Her versatility has taken her from London’s underground to dancefloors across India, DJing across Mumbai, Goa, Delhi and Bangalore, alongside weekly performances across a range of clubs, radios and independent parties, she played a Keep Hush set in Delhi. Raq-L has also shared lineups with artists including Double O, 4am Kru, Neffa-T and Mia Koden to name a few.
Based in UK, Raq-L is a regular presence within the diverse underground music scene as well as a core member of the Hardcore Babes – helping create spaces centered around experimentation, community and women pushing boundaries within electronic music!
